Text Messaging Options

There are several options you can use to send text messages to other wireless subscribers throughout the world.  Below are instructions on how to use each of the methods.  Messages can be a maximum of 160 characters including subject line.  All outgoing Text Messages or e-mails originating from a subscribers mobile phone will be billed at $0.10 ea., and all incoming Text Messages regardless of origination point are free of charge. 

Sending a Text Message from your phone to a domestic wireless phone:

Every phone is slightly different, but you should be able to compose and send a message using the following steps.

1. Go to Menu, select Messages or Messaging

2. From the Messaging Menu select Text Message

3. then select Create Message

4. Compose your message then select Options or Send To

5. Select or enter the recipients wireless number

6. Press Send (Mobile to Mobile Text Messages are charged at $0.10 ea.)

If you are unable to send a message using this method consult your users manual, or Contact Us and a customer service representative will do their best to help you resolve any problems.

Sending a Text Message from your phone to a international wireless phone:

Sending International Text Messages is a simple as knowing the Country code.  For a list of Country Codes and Carriers from around the world that support inter-carrier Text Messaging with Alaska Wireless check out our International Carriers Page.  If you already know the Country Code follow the below instructions.

1. Go to Menu, select Messages or Messaging

2. From the Messaging Menu select Text Message

3. then select Create Message

4. Compose your message then select Options or Send To

5. Enter +Country Code then enter the recipients wireless number

6. Press Send (Mobile to Mobile Text Messages are charged at $0.10 ea.)

Sending a Text message using the Alaska Wireless Website:

To send a Text Message from the Alaska Wireless Communications, LLC website click on the Send Text Message link from any page and follow the instructions.  (Text Messages origination from the Alaska Wireless website are free of charge.)

Sending a Text Message to an e-mail account:

1. Follow steps 1 - 3 for sending a Mobile to Mobile Text Message.

2. Compose the message in the following format:  recipients email address (Subject) Message Body

3. Send Message to 781 (Mobile to E-mail Text Messages are billed at a rate of $0.10 ea., and all characters including address & subject count toward the 160 character maximum.)

Sending an e-mail to an Alaska Wireless Subscriber from your Outlook email aplication.

1. Address the email to 907359xxxx@sms.alaska-wireless.com, where xxxx is the last four digits of the recipients wireless number.

2. Enter Subject (not required)

3. Compose Message and Press Send (E-mail to Mobile Text Messages are free of charge, and all characters including address & subject count toward the 160 character maximum.)
